SOUTHPORT — Campers at the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club had a day of health, wellness and soccer on Thursday.
The coaching staff for Hartford Athletic, a professional soccer team in Hartford, ran drills and games with the campers to help foster an interest in the sport and physical activity.
It was one of several activities to help prepare children ages 6 to 14 with some back to school tips and tricks for sport health and the power of sleep. Connecticut Children’s health system also had several speakers work with campers on how to eat well, stretch post workout and other topics about living a healthy lifestyle just in time for the upcoming school year.
