Programming for fairness: meet students and their computer science teacher

With Countrywide Coding Week just passed, and Ada Lovelace Day coming up, this is a prospect to increase consciousness of inequalities in laptop science careers, and showcase what the Government’s Equality Hub is doing to tackle gender imbalance in STEM.

We chatted to 7 students from Saffron Walden High School, which is a single of the to start with computing hubs picked by the Federal government-funded Countrywide Centre for Computing Schooling to operate computing classes for lecturers in the location. At what age did you begin coding?

In Year 7, I’m in 12 months 9 now. I truly savored it and I have just picked it as an solution for GCSE.

How did your friends react?
